Whichever Way The Wind Blows
Jim Ascot, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress in Illinois’s 7th District, expressed his disappointment this morning over Danny Davis’ announcement endorsing Dorothy Brown for Cook County Board President.
“No, it’s really not a surprise. I’ve come to expect political games like these from him. It’s simply one more example of Davis placing his own career before the interests of the voters. His willingness to fundamentally change course when politically convenient makes me wonder what he actually stands for,” Ascot told supporters this morning.
“Brown is a prime example of the incumbency problem in Chicago. From using state resources to gather petition signatures to making campaign announcements from a county building, Brown has demonstrated the arrogance and complacency that consistently slow down the progress we need to make if we’re to get the people of Illinois working again.
Alderman Toni Preckwinkle’s platform and experience clearly show that she’s the best candidate for the job. The fact that Davis will endorse someone so entrenched in the old politics of the status quo just proves that he is out of touch with the voters’ demand for change.”
